DRAMATIC CENTRE PIECE OVER THE TABLE
|
The focal point of
this dining room is undoubtedly the unusual centre light. Hanging low
over the old oak refectory table, from a central bar, are five lamps swathed
in small mesh wire backed with silver foil to give a sparkling reflection.
When they are lit up at night, they seem to be suspended in mid-air, with
some of the feeling of the New York skyscrapers glistening in the dark.
Perfectly at home with the fine old leather covered chairs and study table,
they prove that contrast, surely handled, is one of the ingredients of
successful decorating. |
